Great Display Of Chinese Culture At Gables
Last Sunday the lobby of the Gables at Brighton retirement home was filled with aura of Chinese culture. The event presented by the Chinese School of Rochester featured traditional Chinese culture, Chinese dance and music, history lesson on the Chinese New Year and some calligraphy workshops. Jin Wu, vice principal said that she wanted to promote the exchange of Chinese culture with that of American. Students and instructors showcased great deal of talent by using the Chinese zither, a harp-like instrument that sits on the floor. All the Chinese music and dances were traditional but still the residents were all tapping their toes in their seats. Gables resident Julie Freedland was impressed by the over-all performance and said that she was fascinated with the instruments and really impressed with the childrens talents.
